Preaching Point

GUIDELINE
A Preaching Point is a regularly scheduled service, typically held once a week or at least once a month, that features preaching.

Under UPCI policy, establishing a Preaching Point requires submission of an application and District approval.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The pastor of the church desiring to establish a Preaching Point must first contact their Presbyter to inquire about the city.

Following this inquiry, the pastor should contact the District North American Missions Director to secure a Preaching Point Application.
COMMITTEE REVIEW
The Connecticut District North American Missions Committee is composed of:
District Superintendent
District NAM Director
Sectional Presbyter
Sectional NAM Liaison

This committee may approve any Preaching Point in a location where no UPC church currently exists.
If a UPC church is already present in the proposed area, approval must be obtained from the District Board.
PURPOSE AND CONSIDERATIONS
A Preaching Point is not a firm commitment to start a church; rather, it is a stated effort to explore the possibility of planting a new work.

Careful consideration should be given to the proposed target area, including consultation with neighboring pastors.
DISTINCTIVENESS
A Preaching Point is distinct from the Mother Church in either location or language.

It is specifically designed to reach individuals who are currently unchurched.
